Principal Investigator
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota. I earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Utah under the supervision of Alla Borisyuk. My dissertation focused on the mechanisms driving calcium transients in astrocytes and the development of a model of glial cell function that emphasized microscale interactions at individual synapses. During my postdoctoral fellowship at the Grossman Center for Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior at the University of Chicago, I worked with Brent Doiron to explore the diversity of interneuron subtypes. I developed large-scale spiking neural networks and corresponding mean-field theories that incorporated this neuronal diversity, successfully replicating experimental findings from various cortical regions. My current lab aims to advance techniques in dynamical systems and applied stochastic processes for theoretical neuroscience, extending traditional excitatory-inhibitory network models to include diverse inhibitory subtypes and other brain cells, such as glial cells.
